Alma Bowen Joins Me for Charitable Book Signing

With fellow author and longtime friend Alma BowenLongtime friend and fellow author Alma Bowen sat beside me yesterday as we participated in a book signing at The Next Chapter Book Store in downtown Gainesville, Georgia. Before the action started, we paused a minute for this photo, displaying our books.

This event was unlike most book signings, in that part of the sale proceeds will benefit Our Neighbor/Randy’s House, “creating homes for young adults with physical limitations.” It was a privilege to help this fine cause.

More about Alma: She has enjoyed an outstanding journalism career, including executive editorship of The Times newspaper in Gainesville. In 2009, after years of thorough research, she wrote her first book, The Cement Duck, a fictional account of a “back country bank” swindle in north Georgia. The amount stolen was so large that the Wall Street Journal reported the 1971 incident. To watch my brief video review of The Cement Duck, posted along with three additional written reviews, and to order your copy of this intriguing story, use this link:
